We all need to do something for the sake of something. The quest to find and maintain a sense of self-worth. The quest to find a purpose. The quest to create a unique voice. There are many ways to achieve all of those things, but this is an activity that will always keep us pushing forward.
Of course it is. We all want to be the best version of ourselves so we’re constantly striving to be the best version of ourselves. We want to be the best versions of ourselves so we can be the best versions of ourselves, which is why we make our first stop on the quest to find a purpose.
People who have no idea what their purpose is can end up in jail. We all do.
How are we supposed to find our purpose when we’re constantly being asked to go back to what we thought of as our true purpose? I can’t get enough of it. I want to know what I want to do with my life. What does it mean to me? Why? What would I do if I had the chance? I want to know why I want to do it, what’s in it for me, and what will give me happiness.
This is where we start to get into the realm of philosophy, psychology, and sociology, but that’s a topic for a later blog post.
The truth is that most of us don’t know what we want to do with our lives until we try to figure it out for ourselves. And as difficult as it is to change something that has become ingrained into our identity, it’s even harder to change something that’s already been defined. So for the most part we just do what we do, and then hope that doing it makes us happy.
This is true, but not, by any means, the only way to find happiness, or happiness for that matter. The key to finding happiness is to look at the big picture. It’s not all about you. It’s not all about what you want. It’s not all about being successful. Its about what you want to do. And since we’ve been so busy not working out that we’ve forgotten this, we’re going to start by looking at success.
The first step to success is self awareness. We’ve talked about the importance of self awareness and self-awareness, but its more than that. It’s about understanding what you want to do and then working to make that plan happen. If this is something that you’re interested in doing, then you need to try to get good at it. And the best way to do that is to use the right tools.
Weve talked about tools and how they can be used to help people accomplish their goals, but I think most of us are familiar with the concepts. I think the best way to approach self-awareness is to use the tools that you already have on your toolbox. Maybe you go to the gym and get a good workout, or you might be a better swimmer than you thought you were, or maybe you just sit on a couch and read a good book.
I think the best way to learn the skills that you want to use to create your goals is to work on those things. That way when you have a goal, you can use the skills that you already know. For example, if you want to be a better swimmer, you might want to try swimming more. Maybe you started swimming because you wanted to, and now you are much better at it. Or maybe you get a great workout when you move around in your house.
